...This is my gift from brother Charlie!  He located this document in the archives at St. Paul's church in Delaware City where he presides as Deacon.  The same church we attended as a family and Father Ward was assigned ( Lawrence A. Ward).

  Thanks Charlie!  Great Gift for me.

Charles J. Schauber, Sr.

To clarify for family and to 'better understand the History'.  

These many layers of people weave a more than '75' year story of the John & Irene Schauber Family History   ...coming Full Circle! 

Fr. Lawrence A. Ward, O.S.F.S. and Dad were very good friends in their mid 30's. (1947 or so) They were born just 10 mo.'s apart.  Fr. Ward died age 48 yrs. (1962)

Sr. John Marie, O.S.F.S.  age 17 yrs. - entered the convent at Mt. Aviat on Father's Day June 16 - 1962, now “64” yrs. ago.  She joined the Oblate Sisters just 5 mo.'s after Fr. Ward passed. 

Sr. John Elizabeth, O.S.F.S. joined the Oblate Sisters entering the convent at Mt. Aviat in 1981, some 20 yrs. later; now more than 45 yrs.

Oblate Sisters taught school @ St. Paul's - Delaware City.

† 1953 – Parish hall is converted into Delaware City’s first parochial school.

Charles J. Schauber was age 16 yrs. in the seminary in Blackwood, NJ - Some 50 yrs. later Charles was  assigned as deacon to St. Paul's in '2013' at age 66.

† 2013 – Deacon Charles J. Schauber Sr. assigned.

Kathleen Schauber age 7 yrs. celebrated her '1st Holy Communion '1949' - photo above on the steps of St. Paul R.C. Church.

Bernadette Schauber was Baptized by Fr. Lawrence A. Ward in June 1950. (11th child)

Mom & Dad now had 11 children by then (1950). 

Lawrence Schauber (Larry) was named after Fr. Lawrence Ward of St. Paul's Church in 1955.  (13th child)

With the passage of time this history will become even more remarkable...

† 1905 – St. Paul’s Church is completed and dedicated.

† 1942 – Plot of ground on Cox Neck Road is obtained from Elizabeth and Henry Curlett for use as an additional cemetery.

† Old Delaware City Public School building at Fourth & Clinton Streets is purchased and renamed St. Paul’s Parish Hall

† 1953 – Parish hall is converted into Delaware City’s first parochial school.

† 1969 – St. Paul’s School is closed and sold to Delaware City for use as a Municipal Building. Children attend Religion classes at the parish convent at Fifth & Clinton Streets.

† 2004 – The parish celebrated its 100 year anniversary!

† 2013 – Deacon Charles J. Schauber Sr. assigned.

† 2015 – The Korean Catholic Community joins the Parish
